Therapeutic Approach

I believe that everyone deserves a safe, non-judgmental space to process life's challenges. Creating that environment of trust and safety is my top priority in each session. With a collaborative and empathetic approach, I work alongside you to help build insight and awareness around your struggles, fostering healing and personal growth. I am committed to meeting you exactly where you are and walking with you through every step of your journey. In collaboration with you, I create a treatment plan that addresses both your specific needs and your overall well-being. As a woman of color, I am especially attuned to the stigma surrounding mental health within marginalized communities. I incorporate a multicultural lens into my sessions, recognizing the importance of your cultural and personal identity in shaping the therapeutic experience. I take an integrative approach to therapy, blending techniques from psychodynamic theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative therapy.

Specializations & Interests

I enjoy working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, ages, and experiences, with a personal investment on mental health concerns of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities. I have a strong interest in supporting those facing anxiety, depression, trauma (including intergenerational trauma & PTSD), grief, stress in relationships, life transitions, caregiver stress, acculturation stress, second-generation experiences and concerns around self-esteem and self-worth.

Biography

Born and raised in Chicago to Nigerian immigrant parents, I have always been deeply passionate about supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and helping them navigate life’s challenges. With over 7 years of experience in providing counseling services and more than 12 years of experience in the social service sector, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients, including young adults, adults, children, parents, individuals with disabilities, and college students facing diverse life challenges. My education includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology from DePaul University and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and have received specialized training in DBT, CBT, ACT, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). As a mother of one, I hold a deep appreciation for the importance of family and community in the healing process. When I’m not working, you can find me exploring new restaurants, traveling, or creating cherished memories with my loved ones. I am truly passionate about empowering individuals to find their path to growth, healing, and self- discovery. I look forward to supporting you on your journey!
