Details on how to apply
Starting March 1, 2024
VNS Health MLTC will no longer cover transportation as part of your loved one's plan benefits.
Non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) services for those enrolled in a Medicaid Advantage Plus or Partial Capitation Plan will now be arranged by the New York Statewide Transportation Broker – Medical Answering Services (MAS).
This will not change any of your loved one's other medical benefits.
You, your loved one, or your loved one's provider must contact MAS to arrange for transportation.
Downstate, call 844-666-6270
Upstate, call 866-932-7740
Online at https://www.medanswering.com/
Whenever possible, MAS should be contacted at least three days before the medical appointment. When calling, be prepared with these details about the appointment:
Date
Time
Address
Name of the provider
Medicaid identification number
Additional information is available on the New York State Department of Health Transportation Webpage.
For questions or concerns, contact the VNS Health MLTC Care Team at (888) 867-6555 (TTY 711), 9 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday, or use the Send Us a Message form.
Everything you need is all in one place
Helpful app simplifies family caregiving by combining your loved one’s insurance benefits and medical records into one user-friendly platform while enhancing your caregiving skills

Caregivers aren’t always available to transport their loved ones to appointments, or reliable transportation may not always be available, and some appointments may not allow the caregiver to accompany their loved one anyway. In these and other instances, ensuring loved ones have a means of getting to and from necessary appointments is essential—and a relief.
In the case where reliable transportation is not available to you, though you still wish to accompany your loved one to their appointment, you may ride with your loved one in the arranged transportation unless the transport service does not permit you to accompany them in the vehicle (which is sometimes the case).
Health plan members are covered for trips to and from health-related appointments and services such as primary care, specialty care, procedures, and programs. Non-emergency transport (NEMT) may be provided through the state or other preferred provider - check with the health plan.
Arrangements should be made at least three days in advance.
