Details on how to apply

If there is a suitable clinical research study for your loved one, their provider(s) will discuss it with you and your loved one and seek to get them enrolled. Enrollment may be partly completed by the provider, though enrollment also requires participation from the participant (your loved one).

The provider can inform you and your loved one if the clinical research study meets Medicare qualifications for coverage.

Clinical research studies, also called clinical trials, test how well different types of medical care work and if they're safe. Good examples are how well a new cancer drug works, or if a new surgical method is better than an existing one.

Medicare covers some costs, like office visits and tests, in certain qualifying clinical research studies.
